- The Jeju Biennale runs until November 15. Choosing a story first—exile, stone culture or mythology—makes it easier to decide which venues to visit.
- The three old downtown venues approach mythology in different ways. Narrow your focus to video in theater spaces, Jeju's religious traditions or Sanjicheon Stream.
- Jeju Museum of Art is in the mid-mountain area, while Jeju Stone Park is in Jocheon-eup. Plan old downtown visits separately from trips farther out to leave time for the art.

Start at Jeju Museum of Art if you want to trace a path from Chusa's exile to migration today. This venue in Jeju City's mid-mountain area explores exile from Chusa's perspective. KIM Jeong-hui's Sehando is shown as a facsimile, alongside Jeju munjado, paintings of Chinese characters.
Chusa's story on the first floor leads to a section on “Sehan: contemporary exile” on the second. The scope broadens to refugees and dispersed migrant communities. This is our first recommendation for anyone interested in connecting historical calligraphy and painting with life today. Give the mid-mountain visit its own time rather than fitting it between old downtown stops.

At Jeju Arts Platform, the old downtown's theater spaces become part of the exhibition. Within the mythology section on the great grandmother deity's navel, it explores coexistence between humans, nature and the digital world. If wall-filling video interests you, put this venue early in your itinerary.
TERRA, in the third-floor main auditorium, is a work by Vincent MORISSET and Caroline ROBERT. It uses a screen 6 m high and more than 15 m wide. The fifth-floor cinema presents Zhanna KADYROVA's Performance VI. We recommend seeing both works before moving to the next venue.

If the phrase “island of deities” has made you curious, follow that story at Art Space IAa. This venue in Jeju City's old downtown explores Jeju's polytheistic culture and the course of life on the island. Video and painting depicting faith and community anchor the exhibition.
KWAK Yun-joo's video records simbang, Jeju shamans, and gut rituals. SON Yu-jin's paintings take the Cheonjiwang Bonpuri myth as their starting point. The shamanic deity paintings from Jeju's Naewatdang shrine are displayed as enlarged reproductions. You can see these images of older religious traditions alongside the artists' works. Jeju Arts Platform is also on Jungang-ro 14-gil. Visit both to continue exploring video and stories of faith.

Head to Obaekjanggun Gallery in Jocheon-eup when you want to see Jeju's stones as more than scenery. The stone-culture section, about black stones rolling on and on, connects time accumulated in basalt and stone walls with matter and virtual worlds. It is a good place to consider the park's stone culture alongside the exhibition's themes.
KIM Hyun-sung's Damjiche uses 24 potter's wheels topped with stones. When visitors turn the wheels, friction between the stones produces sound. The work takes your interest beyond looking at stones to moving them by hand. You need a Biennale ticket for free admission to the park. Keep your ticket to use when you visit the park.

Where to spend time with old stories
Time with the art matters more than the number of venues you visit. This Biennale runs until November 15, spanning a mid-mountain museum, a park in Jocheon-eup and Jeju City's old downtown. We recommend setting aside separate days for the old downtown and the outlying venues.
The event is titled Iyahong : The Art of Metamorphosis. It explores how cultures arriving in Jeju mingle and change through exile, stone culture and mythology. Where you begin depends on whether you want to approach the event through history, video or religious traditions.
