Ask in Korean when you get stuck

We compared five adult English conversation schools in Bundang where a beginner can start in a group, on two points: whether a teacher can answer you in Korean when an explanation stops making sense, and whether the doors open at a time that fits your schedule. Here is how to choose among Ieum English Bundang, Klang Edu, Aetbildyu, Wall Street English Bundang and Bundang English Connect, situation by situation.

At a glance

  • Ieum English Bundang is the one that says a bilingual teacher leads the beginner group. If an explanation stops making sense, you can ask in Korean on the spot.
  • Of the four schools with published hours, Ieum English Bundang is the only one open on both Saturday and Sunday. Whether a weekend beginner class actually runs has to be confirmed at the consultation.
  • Aetbildyu and Klang Edu are the two that publish class size and tuition as numbers on their websites. At Ieum English Bundang you have to ask for both the class cap and a quote at the consultation.
  • To sit in a group class once before paying a school, Bundang English Connect in Yatap-dong runs free sessions on Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon.

What happens when you do not follow an explanation differs from school to school. At some, a native-speaker teacher rephrases it in English. Others keep a separate class where a bilingual or Korean teacher walks you through it in Korean, and the difference is written plainly in each school's class listings. For an adult beginner starting over, that comes before a teacher's nationality or the name of the textbook, so this piece starts there.

We split the five Bundang schools two ways first. One: does a teacher who can use Korean lead the beginner group? Two: do the doors open early on weekdays or at weekends, to fit your schedule. Ieum English Bundang near Migeum Station is the one that says a bilingual teacher leads the beginner group, and Aetbildyu in Seohyeon is the one where a Korean teacher leads the absolute-beginner class. Of the four schools with published hours, Ieum English is also the only one open on both Saturday and Sunday.

Klang Edu and Aetbildyu are the two that post class size and tuition as numbers on their websites, so those two can be compared before you pick up the phone. For the schools that do not publish them, we listed those items separately as things to fill in at the consultation. On a day when asking back in Korean matters most, read Ieum English Bundang and Aetbildyu first. On a day when you want class size and price settled in advance, start with Klang Edu and Aetbildyu.

Can I manage a group class when I can barely introduce myself in English? At Ieum English Bundang, the beginner group is led by a bilingual teacher. That is what the website says. It is a class where you can ask in Korean the moment an explanation stops making sense. Five's take: for a beginner group, that one thing comes first.

For the beginner–lower-intermediate group, the listings name two kinds of teacher: native speaker and bilingual. Which one leads your class has to be checked on the timetable. Group timetables go up each month on the school's Naver booking tab. Start by looking for a beginner class on a day you can actually attend. On days when a group does not fit, the same school's 1:1 tailored class can fill the gap.

Of the four schools with published hours, this is the one open on both Saturday and Sunday. On weekdays it opens at 07:00. Whether a weekend beginner class runs is a separate matter from opening hours, so confirm it at the consultation. Tuition is pay-per-session, so there is no price list, and the quote comes at the consultation. It was named an outstanding business in the Bundang-gu language school category by the 2026 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation.

Watch out
The beginner group's class cap and list price are not on the website, so ask about both, and about whether a weekend class runs, on your first call.

Can I find out the monthly cost before the consultation? Klang Edu, a minute from Seohyeon Station, is an adult-only group English conversation school. It is one of the two schools that post the tuition table on the website as plain numbers. The baseline is ₩240,000 for 8 sessions a month. The longer you sign up for, the lower the monthly rate.

Groups average 4–5 people, and a class opens even if only one person signs up. On top of the regular classes, free native-speaker sessions run 9 times a week. Weekly writing corrections are included. Cancel by 17:00 the day before and the session stays on your account.

The group classes are listed as taught by four native speakers, with no mention of bilingual teachers. If asking back in Korean comes first for you, look at number 1 or number 3 first. It is closed on Sunday.

Hours
Mon–Thu 07:00–22:00, Fri 07:00–20:00, Sat 09:00–15:00, closed Sunday
Watch out
It closes on Sunday and has no bilingual teacher, so a beginner who really needs explanations in Korean should look at numbers 1 and 3 first.

How many people sit in one class? Aetbildyu, on Hwangsaeul-ro in Seohyeon, puts its group class cap on the website. A maximum of 5, with 2–4 on average. Class size is one way to judge how much individual attention you will get. Classes run in four stages: absolute beginner, beginner with a native speaker, everyday native-speaker conversation, and business native-speaker. The absolute-beginner class is led by a Korean teacher.

A write-up from an absolute-beginner student says one of the two hours went to expressions. The rest was listening and speaking practice. There is a passage saying the teacher spoke in English first. Anything the student missed was explained again in Korean. Weekly writing homework and corrections are included.

Group tuition is published at ₩240,000–₩420,000 a month. That covers 2–5 sessions a week. There is a meetup every Thursday and a social gathering once a month. Opening hours are not on the website, so you have to call to find out when classes run.

I travel for work and cannot stay tied to one neighbourhood. Is there a way? Wall Street English Bundang is an adult English conversation centre in front of Seohyeon Station. It sells native-speaker small-group classes bundled with online classes. Sign up and you can use eight centres. Samsung, Gangnam, Jongno, Yeouido, Sinchon, Ilsan and Busan are included. On days you cannot reach a centre, you take the class online.

Levels follow the Common European Framework (CEFR). Your starting level is set by a free level test. One bundle of classes is 50 minutes each of native-speaker class, discussion and social club. Personal coaching is added on top. The price is given only as from the ₩300,000s a month. The quote comes at the consultation.

Beginners are also taught by native-speaker teachers, according to the listings. If you are at the stage where you follow English but the words do not come out, this is the right class. If Korean explanations come first for you, look at number 1 or number 3. Weekday doors open at 10:00, so there is no before-work slot.

Hours
Mon–Fri 10:00–22:00, Sat 10:00–17:00
Watch out
The small-group cap is not a number on the website, so ask how many sit in a class when you go in for the level test.

Is there anywhere to try a group class for free before signing up? Bundang English Connect in Yatap-dong is a free English conversation programme run by a church. It is run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It suits anyone who wants to see whether group classes fit them before paying for one.

Classes are split into beginner, intermediate and advanced. The beginner class covers simple conversation and reviews the grammar and vocabulary you learned at school. The teaching is done by native-speaker volunteers in their twenties. Meetings are fixed to two days: Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon.

It is a gathering run by a religious organisation, and you should know that going in. There are no reviews on record, so you will have to see the atmosphere in the classroom for yourself. Apply through the enquiry form on the website or by phone.

Hours
Wed 19:00–20:00, Sat 13:00–16:00
Watch out
With no reviews there is little to go on about the classroom atmosphere, and with the days fixed to Wednesday and Saturday, anyone whose weekday evenings are busy gets only the one Saturday session.

Choosing in more detail

  • If asking back in Korean matters most when you get stuck — Ieum English Bundang and Aetbildyu. At Ieum English a bilingual teacher leads the beginner group; at Aetbildyu a Korean teacher leads the absolute-beginner class. The first is closer if you are near Migeum Station, the second if you are near Seohyeon.
  • If you want to compare class size and tuition as numbers before the consultation — Aetbildyu and Klang Edu. Both put the class cap and monthly tuition on their websites, so you can compare before calling. The teachers differ: Aetbildyu's absolute-beginner class has a Korean teacher, Klang Edu's has native speakers.
  • If your schedule needs early weekdays or weekends — Ieum English Bundang. It opens from 07:00 on weekdays and through Saturday and Sunday, and whether a weekend class runs has to be confirmed at the consultation. If you only need the 07:00 weekday slot, Klang Edu opens at the same hour.
  • If you follow English but the words do not come out — Wall Street English Bundang. Native-speaker small groups come with discussion and a social club, plus eight centres and online classes together.
  • If you want to try a group class free before signing up — Bundang English Connect. It runs free on Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon.
  • If you live around Yatap — Bundang English Connect. Of the five, it is the only one not in Seohyeon or Migeum.

Whether a teacher can answer you in Korean and whether the hours fit your schedule can both be sorted out from the websites, and on those two points number 1, Ieum English, comes first. For class size and tuition, Klang Edu and Aetbildyu have the numbers up, so compare those in the table and fill in the rest by asking at the consultation. On the call, ask about the class cap, the teacher's language and whether a weekend class runs, and take the quote after that.

Ask before you go

1Is there parking at English schools in Bundang?

Ieum English Bundang lists 2 hours of free parking in the building. The other four have no parking information on their websites, so ask about it at the consultation if you plan to drive.

2I am a beginner. Can I go straight into a native-speaker class?

By class structure, Ieum English Bundang's beginner group and Aetbildyu's absolute-beginner class both keep a stage before the native-speaker classes. Klang Edu and Wall Street English list native-speaker teachers for beginners too, so if listening in English is itself a strain, starting at one of the first two makes more sense.

3Where can I take a level test?

Wall Street English Bundang books a free level test through Naver booking, and Aetbildyu gives a level test after a phone consultation. The other three list no separate level test; you book a consultation first through Naver booking, a website form or a phone call.

4Are there beginner group classes at weekends in Bundang?

Opening hours and whether a class actually runs are two different things. Ieum English Bundang is open on Saturday and Sunday and posts its group timetable to the Naver booking tab each month, so check that timetable for a weekend beginner class. Klang Edu opens on Saturday only and closes on Sunday, and Bundang English Connect meets on Saturday afternoon.

5If I miss a class, do I lose the session?

At Klang Edu, cancel by 17:00 the day before and the session stays, and every sixth attendance earns a free class. The other three paid schools have no cancellation policy on their websites, so ask about it at the consultation.
